High hopes set on 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3’s racing performance

The Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is a formidable racing car that has proved effective against rivals. The 2015 version of the car has already proved its mettle by winning third place in Japan’s Super GT as well as Blancpain GT series races. Now, the latest Nissan GT-R model that has been launched and Nissan has high hopes for the new model that will make its debut in 2019.

The 2018 model has been designed by Nismo, Nissan’s sports car division, and it has been equipped with an advanced technology that is surely going to make the car zoom ahead of its rivals. Experts at Nismo have tweaked the previous model to come up with a truly aggressive racing car.  The engine’s position and the suspension geometry are the key areas that have undergone changes.

 

The Engine

The 2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is powered by a VR38SETT twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers a power of 543 hp and a torque of 637 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential transmission system that delivers power to all the four vehicles.  In the new model, the engine has been repositioned backward by 6 inches. Additionally, the engine occupies a position that is lower than before because of the use of a shallower oil pan. These changes have not only lowered the car’s center of gravity but have also improved the weight distribution.

 

Improved handling and safety

2018 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3’s rigidity and handling The has been improved due to frame cross member and suspension geometry. An optional air conditioning system can be installed to refresh the racing drivers. Moreover, the car has got all the FIA safety-approvals for fire extinguishers, roll cage, steering wheel, driver recovery system and seats. These features ensure that the car can aim to compete effectively with the Bentley Continental GT3, the McLaren 650S GT3 and also the Audi R8 LMS.

Nissan’s partner teams have already begun to use the 2018 model Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 to exploit the full potential of the car.
